    competition

At first all you have is what you are born with. Your genetic makeup predisposes you to be able to run fast, throw far, out think your prey, but these are things you can not control. You can become better through practice and develop new skills but you will always be at an advantage over some.

What happens when these people come in contact, when they are forced to compete and survive against one another? When the challenge of becoming the best of the best forces them to rise to new challenges previously met purely on skill? What stages do they go through? There are obviously those who will not succeed because they quit when the competition is no longer easy, their mentality is insufficient to their skill. There will be those who fail through no fault of their own, whether due to injury or completion’s fickle nature.

Conversely there will be those who excel through manipulation, deception or otherwise unpopular methods, however their accomplishments are not to be disregarded merely for being unpopular. There will be those who excel at all things and those who only excel at one or a select few. There will be those who excel but are helped by their popularity or favoritism and those who fail for the same reasons. At some point the level of competition becomes meta in nature and the best perform best under the toughest conditions simply because it is forced out of them.

There are those who will be able to examine themselves for flaws and make themselves better and they will leave those who can only recognize their flaws, but do nothing about them, by the wayside. There will be those who recognize the value of teamwork and the importance of cooperation and they will use it to further themselves but there will be those who use teamwork as a crutch without which them will quickly fall.

Those who work well in groups will notice the personalities of their teammates will mesh better with some and another others, there ware some who can be alpha dogs and those who can not undertake leadership roles. There will be some who can recognize when others need to play their part, to have their opportunity and those who can not sublimate themselves except under the wrong conditions.

There will be many who will allow others to take the fall or will set up their teammates to fail, some may try to make their teammates feel like they can not succeed without them by sabotaging their teammate’s moral. At this point or perhaps sooner, emotions have become a factor, pride, fear, anger jealousy, greed, spite, all the ones associated with negativity.

There will always be those who can use their emotions but will play through them rather with them and will succeed over those for whom success does not demand every aspect of their self.
